On the show for this week we'll be talking about the issues and concerns that are part of the rural lifestyle and we'll also visit a bit with a personal friend Michael Leo.  Michael, with the help of several friends (really GOOD friends) recently planted 1,000 grape vines on a hillside just south of Des Moines.

The remarkable thing is that the entire planting operation took just two days.  Two hot, miserable, days at that.  Here are a couple of photos from day one just so you get the idea:

Your intrepid host using the only "modern" piece of equipment used during the planting process.  We tried to tell Michael that there has been real movement in the mechanizing of farm equipment but I'm not sure he bought it.

Just so you get an idea of this project scope.  It's nearly three acres.  At least the slope is toward the east!  But walking up and down can be a chore.

One of the many rewards of working on a Michael Leo project is the yummy stuff he creates.  This cake went a long way at soothing the pain of physical labor.
