There is a mounted unit of the Des Moines Police Department.  OK, so maybe you knew that but we doubt you know about the dedication and the time these officers put in...and everything is donated.

We'll have several members of the Mounted Patrol Unit in to talk about their work and how a mounted patrol works to benefit citizens and the community.

Each of the officers keep their own horse on their own acreage.  Pictured above is Sergeant Robin Sprafka with her Quarter Horse, Axel.  She'll be with us to talk about the challenges each member of the unit has in keeping a mounted patrol in Des Moines.
