Welcome to Insight on Business the regular round up of news and information about advertising, marketing and consumer trends. Insight on Business is a production of our advertising agency, Insight Advertising, Marketing & Communications. For today...
Video marketing...Wait let's go to the video...
The bottom line here is using video with your website, social media or even as direct mail can work wonders. And with so many consumers tied to Broadband...it's even more astounding. Seventy-Two percent of Internet users view video on-line and they like it better than broadcast video! Want proof? Knew you would. Here is an article from our friends at Nielsen the decades old media research firm. Ahhh...72% is a big number. If you are having doubts...let's talk?
Back in the "old days" of marketing and advertising we measured the success of a campaign on the "walk-ins", "sales figures" or "post-campaign focus group" numbers. Today it's much different. We have NUMBERS for everything from "click-through" to "Fans". We've talked about this for some time and cautioned our clients about it. "Are you being blinded by...the numbers?" Here is a great read on that subject by Tim Berry of Duct Tape Marketing. It's all about focus...kids....focus.
I told you so... I love those "four little words". Going back to October 2008 I have been telling our clients and anybody who would listen to Insight on Business, read my postings or hear me speak that cutting R&D, marketing, advertising or technology was dead wrong. Those things are investments that you need to build. Time after time others have joined the chorus. Here is yet another: This article in Entrepreneur Magazine by Sherr'e DeMao says it all. Please, for your business, for your employees, for your customers...read it.

Awesome video! How do you create such a professional video? I need help! What software do you use for the transitions? What type of camera do you use. My videos need more polish.... I think many of us need a course in taking great video.
Thanks again!

Brent: Actually, it's the FLIP camera. All the software is inside and you just shoot and edit. It takes some time to get used to doing it but we can get excellent sound and good transitions. We also use it to shoot a "sample" video for clients before we pull out the BIG camera, lights and "action". Don't skimp...go for the FLIP HD. Quality is great about $225. Michael,
Once again, great blog. The article from Tim Berry is dead on...analysis paralysis. I fought this at my days as a marketing manager at USWest. The mindset was too caught up in the metrics. While good to have and know, the key was plain as day..."are we trying to reach the objective?".
Data for data's sake? What do you do with that?
Miss your show.
Are you hiring?

Hi Jeff! Thanks for the comment. We find ourselves swimming in second guesswork. Was what we did right...what do "the numbers" say. It takes so much energy and often our eye off the ball. Not hiring...but I am honored that you might even ask. Thanks for reading!! - Michael
