Insight on Business with Michael Libbie takes Friday off...well, sort of. We don't do a webcast here at Webcast One LIVE but we do offer you up some random thoughts on "The Stuff We See". It's a collection of happenings and events from the advertising and marketing side of business. Plus a look at what went on in our world. We'll be back to Webcast One LIVE on Monday with a Metro Monday Edition of Insight on Business. Til then...
Honestly, no comment here other than to ask you, "Why the heck do you care?". The thing that makes me ask that is the number of people we've seen talking about it this morning. Maybe spending time thinking how to engage consumers, business partners and promote your work...might be a good idea today? Just askin'.
Overnight, and after 15 hours of debate, the Iowa House Labor Committee voted House Study Bill 117 out of committee where it faces certain passage in the GOP controled house. Will that set up another "Senate Struggle" like we've seen in Wisconsin. Count on it...the fun has just started. Here is the full story from the Iowa Independent. Never mind...let's talk about Charlie Sheen... ;-)
Speaking of Wisconsin and Iowa
This week we headed to the Capitol to take some footage of the We Are One Rally staged by various union groups. The Tea Party was there as well. Here is just a quick look at what we saw.
The entire footage, with interviews, can be seen during the second half of our news hour from yesterday. Here is that link.
Shopping Cart Abandonment Costs $18 Billion
If you are doing e-commerce this number will, perhaps shock you more than the antics of Charlie Sheen: 70% of shoppers who go to a site to buy product fail to close on the purchase and abandon their shopping cart before they check out. That's seven out of every ten people and if you are like 66% of the e-tailers out there you have no active plan to know who they are, find out why they left or entice them to come back. Lost revenue to the tune of $18 billion. Bet if you owned a brick & mortar location and 7 out of 10 customers walked in and walked out without buying...you might try to figure out why. We talked about it yesterday...if you missed the show...no problem: Here is the story, with tips on how to engage, which we posted on our Insight Advertising Agency Blog. Enjoy...
This has been a fun week. A couple of us are out in the field visiting with advertising agencies about the value of Webcast One LIVE. We're sitting down with some of the best and most successful advertising agency types in the city telling them about the product, who is watching, how many each day... So far every one of the advertising agency executives have shared with us they have zero knowledge of Social Media...other than the fact that "somebody here does that stuff". Oh...my. And you wonder why we want to talk about Charlie Sheen.
Sure You Are Networking...But No Results?
It is the BUZZ. Chambers do it, social clubs do it, business groups do it...even Charlie Sheen networks. Tuesday night I came to the startling conclusion that you are wasting your time networking. Seriously. Unless you take those business cards you received, follow up with a phone call or an e-mail asking for further engagement...save your breath. Or...just go home and watch Two and a Half Men in re-runs. Think of it this way...if Charlie can ask for "further engagement" and hook up with porn actress Kacey Jordan (left) you should be able to take your "networking" seriously enough to ask for a follow up conversation. Ya think?
Video For Marketing Your Business
That's it...I must head back to the video edit room to help out with several projects for our clients. Oh...by the way...you are using video to extend your brand...right? You have a YouTube account? You do have professional video on your website? If you're not...and you have no idea why you should or how. Contact me. If you think it's silly to use quality video for business. Here is a link to the latest about Charlie Sheen. Might as well.
