The Des Moines Public School Board Election is Tuesday the 12th of September. While we don't do politics on the Business News Hour we do think education in the largest school district in Iowa does have an impact on preparing our youth to enter the job market. We spent most of the broadcast talking with two of the three At-Large Candidates running for two seats on the DMPS Board of Trustees: Rob Barron is the incumbent and Louisa Dykstra a challenger. The third candidate Kyrstin Delagardelle Shelley declined our invitation due to another commitment. In this segment we introduce the candidates.
