Along with following some great rural news stories we had a most interesting guest talking about about "artisan beef".  HUH?  That's what we thought before we met Carrie Oliver of The Oliver Ranch Company based in Santa Rosa, California.   Here is the "set up" and it makes sense to us:  For longer than anybody can remember people have enjoyed specific wines because of the different flavors they bring to the palate.  But...what about other foods? 

What about...beef?

Might one breed taste different than another?  Might the growing region, diet and aging techniques alter the taste and then the enjoyment of...beef? 

We'll admit, this all sounded a bit strange at first but makes sense the longer we thought about it.  Well, that is The Oliver Ranch and Carrie Oliver.  She works with cattle producers across the country helping them, and consumers, learn more about the subtle, and not so subtle differences of beef.
