On the show today we’ve got two great guests. Leading off we are pleased and honored to have the Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Bill Northey. Secretary Northey is in studio today and we’ll talk about the critical importance of agri-business in Iowa, the impact agriculture has on not just farming but also manufacturing and technology. We’ll also discuss the World Food Prize event that is happening this week, right here in Des Moines. We’ll talk about how Iowa reaches to feed the world by building new technology to meet demand. In addition we’ll visit, briefly, about the recent across the board budget cuts ordered by Governor Chet Culver and get the Secretary’s take on how that will impact his department and the business world of Iowa. In addition to Secretary Northey we’re happy to have Cathy Erickson back with us. Cathy is the person behind The Great Iowa Pet Expo which will be held at the Iowa State Fairground this weekend. Thousands of people and pets are expected to take part in this, the 10th anniversary of the Expo. With Cathy will be Ken Scarnegie with Classic K9 Extreme Team. WHO? Get this, the Classic k9 Extreme Team performs “Olympic Style” events like agility racing, barrel racing, relay racing, world record canine high jump and a host of other shows that will amaze those of you coming to the event. And, the Classic K9 Extreme Team will hold try outs during the Great Iowa Pet Expo…maybe your dog???
