On the show today is a guest we were to have had with us on Monday…but some technical issues kept Dan Shipton from our show. We’re back, better than ever and our discussion today is going to center on a recent article about co-working. Seems it’s popping up all over the country…what’s been the driver? The recession. As more and more folks have lost their jobs they are giving up the 9 – 5 life and opening up their own business. But…NOT EVERYBODY is cut out to work from home or in a lone office. Some folks need to be in a “community” of sorts. We’ll talk about that, about pricing, about the other draws and find out how Dan’s place, Impromptu Studio has changed over the past several months. Is it different today than what he thought it would be….in the beginning?
This week I had a meeting with a client who is not from the Des Moines area. We spent the entire day with them. Part of the day (about an hour) was spent with a company representative who has been wanting to get our client to talk to them about a new “gadget” they have developed. The problem was…following our hour together we had not seen the “gadget”, learned how it would assist our client…we don’t even know the price. So…what is the “take away” from this? Look, not everybody that has a great idea can sell the idea to the consumer. We find this more often than not… A company or individual has an idea for something, they develop it and the whole thing comes crashing down…because they don’t have the tools, the understanding or the gift to market the idea on their own. In the article I wrote today for The Des Moines Register and our advertising agency I explained what needs to happen to get great ideas into the hands of the consumer…
We’re also following several other stories… Here is your invite to join us at 12:30 today. All you have to do is head to Des Moines Local…LIVE and you’re there. You can choose to watch the show or simply listen in. Think of it as radio…in your office…. Smart, or business.
