Happy New Year from Insight on Business with Michael Libbie. We're on Monday - Thursday at Noon Central here at Webcast One LIVE. On Friday we "sort of take off" but because business never sleeps...we share with you some of "The Stuff We See" and pass it on to you. Let's go:
I am not paid by Sabra or by Hy-Vee (maybe I should be?) but...both tend to be favorites of mine. Here is a quick video we did yesterday. It's more than a "shameless plug", what this is about is amazing customer service and using social media. It all started on Wednesday when Curt Sills posted this image @UrbandaleHyVee. I had no knowledge they were doing this...but the image quickly received well over 300 views. Two things about this: Hy-Vee in Urbandale, Iowa quickly is noticed for using SM with humor and not "selling all the time". Second, it's "human"... That post resulted in this "Hunting Video". (Thomas Allen, eat your heart out.)
Can social media work for your business? Sure...IF you use it correctly and connect with folks who "get it". We'll visit about this maybe on Monday?
Here are two photos of my friend and co-webcaster J. Michael McKoy. It's rare that I see him in a tie. He's usually in black with his...purse? Mac dressed up for a photo shoot and a story in the upcoming Business Record for Des Moines. Ya look sharp Mac! That really is a "man bag" right? (You can click on the images to enlarge.)
Are you into supporting LOCAL BUSINESS? We have shunned most "chains" in favor of doing business with our neighbors. Are we bucking a trend? Nope...in fact locally owned business are seeing a major resurgence...nationwide. If you're into that you'll enjoy this post from our friend @VegChefDSM or Sam Auen. You'll find him an honest read and somebody that doesn't hold back. The blog is called Locally Grown and here's your link.
Speaking of food... Here is the foodie blog Phyne Dyningthat my brother Yoni does. He's funny, serious and wild about cooking. And yes, he even says a nice word or two about me. Happy New Year Phyne Dyning! (And he's right...he knew I'd post a shameless plug.)
Last week we had Lori Murga on our show talking about her startup business, Just Beadiful. After the show she asked me to pick out a gift for my bride. Did I choose well? Thanks Lori...nice! (And @GeorgieGurl loves it!)
