The restaurant business is fraught with failure. Stats suggest that 60% of new restaurants fail within eighteen months. With the majority of those closing in a year. Yesterday we shared with you how cool it is when your business builds market share BEFORE you open your doors. Gusto Pizza of Des Moines is opening soon. They have employed video and social media to build a following well in advance of their first day. Here is the latest:

It's starting out as a very open relationship.Jason E. Glass is the incoming Director of the Iowa Department of Education. He's from Ohio and very active on Twitter. Jason has about 820 followers and he is following 800 people. What this says about where he is with public input and education is remarkable. Trying to book him for a future guest slot to talk about public outreach and his observations.
When is Human Resources...not? I get to network...a bunch. From formal situations to casual meetings. I've become convinced that many people who work in the "Human Relations Field" are under-performing and taking the "human" aspect out of their job. We're going to explore that a bit today...I may not be right...and I'm hoping those of you working HR can set me straight.
Our guest is Paula Poland an unemployed/under-employed mid-level creative that has been networking and reaching out for a job for over a year. I've read her posts...but never met her. However, her story is much like those of dozens of people I've talked to and I've come to believe there is no "human" in Human Relations.
