Insight on Business with Michael Libbie spends Monday - Thursday talking about...business. What works in advertising/marketing and what doesn't. We visit with business owners, employees and most important...consumers sharing with you the trends we see. On Monday we dial it in a bit and focus on the metro area of Des Moines with the Metro Monday Edition. But, no matter where you live you'll learn something...today. Join us live here at Webcast One LIVEwhere you visit with us using "The Chat" or on Twitter, I monitor @MichaelLibbie before during and after
the show. Let's go:
A word about the murders in Arizona and the link to advertising and marketing. You think there is none? Those comments in the first ten minutes of today's show.
Things are heating up here in the metro with the folks from "Save the Maplenol Barn at Valley High School". The Facebook site that went live a week ago now has over 1,700 people sharing their feelings about ways to save and use the barn, set for demolition to make way for..."green space" and more "athletic fields". Tonight is the West Des Moines School Board Meeting and the group is trying to build support to attend. Grassroots movements like this would not have been possible, so quickly, even five years ago.
The Des Moines Social Club is...moving. The non-profit organization founded in 2009 told us their lease is up and they've got to find new space. The SMSC was created as a center for the arts and entertainment. They have hosted musical events, educational events and great parties....and anybody can join. It's anticipated that the move will allow the Des Moines Social Club to expand their offerings. According to this story from the Business Record, State Senator Jack Hatch is helping to find new digs.
Congratulations to four friends of Insight on Businessin the launch of their new iPhone app, Uppward. Nathan Wright, James Eliason, Ben Sinclair and Nate Becker teamed up to create an application which allows you to check flight information, see who else is on your flight and...meet up with them should you wish. Think of the possibilities! Nice work guys. Here is the full story from the Business Record. Say, isn't that Ben Milne sporting "the Uppward Look" on the site?
Our in-studio guest svalue to the transaction of business by attempting to do things...differently. Pat Pithan is the Director of Business Development at Imaging Technologies a center for business supplies and equipment. Needless to say his company has plenty of competition in the market. Seems like you can't swing a stick and not hit somebody that is selling the very same things Imaging Technologies does. And, some of those companies have HUGE national budgets to get your attention. So, what's going on here? Join us as we talk about marketing ideas, business applications for small the mid-size companies and how to bring true value to enhance your relationship. Good stuff... Pat Pithan today with Insight on Business.
