It's the Metro Monday Edition of Insight on Business with Michael Libbie seen live at Noon Central here at Webcast One LIVE...or whenever you wish by podcast or re-broadcast. Much more than "talking heads" all of the hosts here tune into "The Chat" during our shows so that you can ask, answer and help the conversation. In addition I monitor Twitter @MichaelLibbie before, during and after the show.
Let's go:
Two interesting public relations stories having to do with social media came up this past week. One involved the Governor of New York and the other the NHL Winter Classic on NBC. On NBC unless you count on Rochester, MN station KTTC. Ahhh...memories of "The Heidi Game". We'll share each story with you today...and the lessons your business can learn for the future.
I know, last week was a RUSH for many of you. Here at our studios we could tell that is was a holiday week...far fewer cars in the parking garage and not as many folks in the skywalks. Even the "Skywalk Performers" like Randy Kong were nowhere to be found. Hey...it's all about audience. Today we'll take some time and review my Five Predictions (TIPS) for Business in 2011. Consider it a make-up.
Last month just a dozen folks showed up for the public forum on the 11% health care insurance rate increase requested by Wellmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield. (They requested and got 18% last spring.) That...will change this Thursday. Iowa Insurance Commissioner Susan Voss has set up 29 sites across the state where consumers can check in through speakerphone. There is also another change expected. Wellmark skipped out on the first hearing. Rob Schweers the media relations person for Wellmark confirmed to us last week they will be at the forum that starts at 9AM at 330 Maple Street here in Des Moines.
Is the message "doom and gloom" or "we're fiscally responsible"? Later this month Iowa's new (sort of) "Governor-4-Life" Terry Branstad will take the Oath of Office for the fifth time. The reports coming out of the inauguration committee is that things will be austere to reflect the times. Given the campaign and the promises they get a big..."ups" on this one. And...maybe they'll be "buying local"? Here is the full story from our friends at The Des Moines Register.
And the Hy-Vee video YOU might have seen but we bet corporate hasn't. We'll share...

However, now with 2011, you have the ability to control the visiblity of worksets in linked files.it is better to have things visible, then turned off by the 'view owner' if/when not needed.
