Insight on Business with Michael Libbie takes Friday...off. Well, sort of. We keep working on what "works" when it comes to marketing and business but we're not broadcasting today at Webcast One LIVE. So...we'll share with you some of the stories we're following and some of the "stuff we see"...let's go:
Snarky Comments and WHO-TV13 - A Social Media Lesson: Wednesday evening at 7:00PM we made it a point to turn on the local Des Moines TV Station(s) to watch the Memorial Service from Tucson. We saw re-runs and game shows. "Wait, this is an event of national importance how is it that local television is failing?" To the computer and Twitter where I see it's not only Des Moines but the nation. The networks decided for us that the entire service was not important. I ranted a bit and received from @WHOhd:
WHOhd Jan 12, 9:39pm via HootSuite @MichaelLibbie Check your watch. @WHOtv carried the Presidents remarks from Tucson in their entirety.
Clearly my friends at WHOhd didn't understand the issue. But, they are rather new to this "Social Media Thingy"...they are following a total of 19 people. Go ahead...check yourself...we'll wait. In light of the events of last Saturday this little thing is nothing. But, folks have got to learn Social Media is about "relationships" (I'm not feeling real fuzzy about the nameless/faceless person at WHOhd.) and listening is more important than...broadcasting. Class dismissed.
Today Kyle Munson had a great article about Guns and Iowa in the Des Moines Register. We agree Kyle.
In studio this past week was Christopher L. Jorgensen, perhaps better known as the author of Jackass Letters. His humor and style is something we loved and there is a deeper message here for business and how they communicate with consumers. If you missed the show here is the link. Thanks Christopher for coming in...good stuff.
Yesterday I received the new book by Tobias Eichberg - "Ag Trade Show Report 2011". WOW what a nice piece of work. Telling you about it won't do it justice...
If you are in the world of farm manufacturing, agriculture services or ag publishing this is a MUST HAVE. Tobias is Eichberg Consulting and you can get to him through his website. And...if you really, really want to see results from your trade show experience...give us a call...or Tobias. We "graduated" from his class on "how to".
How are consumers feeling about 2011? Good question and answered in this review of a new Gallup Pollfrom our frieind Krista Knight for Biz Reports.
We get asked all the time, "So, what exactly is Webcast One LIVE?". This is a bit long at 14 minutes but you get the idea...
Thanks for watching...we'll be back with a live show on Monday - The Metro Monday Edition of Insight on Business. Have a great weekend and if you want to carry on the discussion, leave me a comment here, send me an e-mail or join me on Twitter.
