It's a huge story and one that we started sharing with you back in 2007 on our "traditional" rural lifestyle radio show, "Highway 6 - Your Road to the Country". The Ash trees that are so common in many Iowa cities are coming down due to the Emerald Ash Bore. That's just one part...the cost to do this and re-plant will impact every county in Iowa and the cost is in the millions. Here is the latest story from our friends at the Des Moines Register with quotes from our friend Robin Pruisner from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. She's been on this for...years.
I don't live in West Des Moines and I don't do much business there. I've never had a child enrolled at Valley High School... 
(However, I've seen them play football.) They might think that I'm sticking my nose in their business when it comes to their flawed decision to rip down the century old Maplenol Dairy Barn to make room for "green space" and more "campus". There is a business lesson here...and it's about branding. West Des Moines, even though this decision might make me crazy, is staying true to it's "brand". I'll share that story with you today.
