Taking Your Work Seriously
Not long ago we had an article about the importance of business blogging, saying it's not something to do when you have "extra time". If social media is part of your marketing strategy, which we feel it should be, then you work your business blog like you would any other part of your business...you just do it. But what about the passion? Do you care about the community you are serving...because in the end...that could be the thing that tips the scales. Here is a quick piece on the subject by Ilana Rabinowitz for Social Media Explorer it may help you create a solid social media strategy.
Our friends at Hallmark want to be known (and used) for more than special occasions...they want you to buy their cards for "everyday events". Or so says Lisa Macpherson the Senior VP of Marketing at Hallmark in this Ad Age interview. We would hope that is exactly what she would say in an attempt to broaden their brand. But...can you afford it? That's why we created a simple card for our agency to be used for nearly all occasions. Blank on the outside and inside, we then have the ability to fix a photo on the front, write a greeting on the front and a message inside but still, discreetly let folks know it came from us...with the logo set on the back. (Sending a business card in a card is...we think...a little tacky.) Not only is this a very personal way to connect it also costs...less. You're welcome.
Thanks & Partly Personal
Thanks so much for coming by. I'm on a very short track today. A member of my congregation in Mason City, Iowa died and I'll be headed there to do the funeral today. Frances Rozen was a kind and thoughtful person and will be remembered...and missed.

Brent - Congratulations! That's the difference between "working" a business blog and simply using if...from time to time. Thanks for reading and for the comment! - Michael
