Let's pretend you have $1 million in seed money for a great idea. You invest $50,000 on a video that's really good. Done? If you're smart you might invest another $250,000 to $500,000 to a professional marketing team to help spread the word. Silly? I'll let you decide. Read about the Dollar Shave Club and do the math. Shocking what happens when you mix a solid idea with creative video and then hire a great team to help share the message. Shocking...
What Can 140 Characters Teach You?
This past week the international Twitter event called the 140 Character Conference - The State of Now - visited Iowa. Organized by Deb Brown of Hampton the one day conference, held at the Des Moines Civic Center, featured dozens of speakers who shared their social media experience with over 100 people in the house and hundreds of thousands who watched on Ustream. If you didn't watch or attend here's a quick recap with some words from founder Jeff Pulver. Good stuff...
What Can Politics Learn from Business?
Last fall our agency signed on to an Iowa legislative campaign thinking we could market a candidate the same way as we help our clients market their goods and/or services. So far so good. You see, we believe that both the "Far Left" and the "Far Right", even though they make the most noise, turn voters...off. We believe, just like in selling anything to the public you need to raise the "likability factor" and that works well for "the great middle". What else have we learned? Check out "The Business Side of Politics" for several tips that work...both ways.
Small Business Owners Get Some Help
This week it was my pleasure to present to a small group of small business owners who are seeking help in finance, inter-personal relationships, marketing, social media and time management. Here's a brief video including the opening remarks of my new presentation "Five In Twenty-Four: Five things you can do in a day that will increase your marketing footprint"
Thanks, Peggy, for the invitation.

National Television Advertising - On The Cheap
If you want to get "eyes" on your product or service television is a great media. While "local" television stations have often priced themselves out of the market and experienced a downturn in business you can now buy national exposure for the price of local. Now, this plan isn't for everybody...because you may not have a national product or service...but for those of you who have a broad-based product or service AND you understand the importance of high quality video production read this. Who knew for $3,500 you could buy...ESPN?
Thanks for coming by...have a great weekend! - Michael
