Central Iowa Bloggers
This is a story about what CIB is and what it is not. In video form.
For those of you who would like to join this motley group to share information and learn some cool stuff, we meet the first Friday of each month at Panera on University in West Des Moines. Do not expect a speaker. Here is the original article.
Brand Warriors - Got 'Em?
You can do all you can to encourage customers to buy your products or services. Nobody will tell you it's cheap or easy to advertise. Unless you are taking the time to cultivate your Brand Warriors. What are they? Who are they? And, do you have them? We'd be happy to help you understand how to create, maintain and build your own army of Brand Warriors... Here, again, is that story.
Oh..Really?
New story here kids. The other day a person posing as a "social media expert" said to a client of ours, "I see that you are taking shortcuts and scheduling Tweets rather than sending them out live." Of course, we got the call from our client. We asked what led this "expert" to his observation. Our client said, "He said he noticed they were coming from Hootsuite." Two major points here...
- So? There is nothing wrong with scheduling Tweets especially if it is news and information you want to share with the world. It's how it is done;
- We...weren't. We, and many other companies use Hootsuite. Just because it shows up as coming from Hootsuite does not mean it's not...live. It simply means that is the program that is being used.
The reason I'm sharing this is because there are loads of "Social Media Experts" out there who don't know what the hell they are talking about. As always...buyer beware. Oh, wait...because I don't know what I'm talking about...perhaps you will believe our friend Stacy Nunnally who wrote this article for the Nashville Business Journal.
Being Responsive Builds Your Brand
If you are using Twitter for business it's important that you are responsive to your fellow "Tweeps". You know, like if a customer mentions your business (or you) in a Tweet it's critical that you respond. It's not only polite but those responses help build your brand. When you fail to do so we (the consumer) thinks you don't give a damn and that my friends, in this world of social media, is a knife into the heart of your brand. Over the past week several of us Tweeted about a local business who is "sort of active". (They have a couple thousand followers.) We said nice things. We had spent money there. Even posted images of some of the folks who work there. Nada...nothing back. I asked a friend who does the SM work for this business and when told I was surprised he had not picked up on our efforts to engage. If you own a business and you are having a third part handle your social media...stay on top of it. It's your...brand.
