The Business of No Justice - No Peace

Following an email we received the other day from one of the Iowa organizers of No Justice - No Peace we kicked around the idea to invite them to the Business News Hour to help us...and business better understand what exactly those four words mean. Many times over the summer we've seen crowds of people and often the media has a focus on violence. But is that what the group is about?  With us is Al Womble who along with several others has been crisscrossing Iowa and setting up voter information booths where they are usually welcomed but often harassed.  Here is that conversation:

Launching in a Pandemic - Shirley Macleod and Tint World

As part of our ongoing series about entrepreneurs who are opening their businesses during a pandemic we found Shirley and Earl Macleod of Iowa who, just weeks ago, opened a franchise location in Iowa for Tint World. Here we visit with Shirley about the decision to become a franchise owner, what impressed them about Tint World and what they offer to vehicle owners...and it's not just window tinting. While the new business is located in Urbandale, Iowa it is the only Tint World in the state. One other thing, the Macleod's are not done and have options on opening three additional locations outside of Iowa.  Meet Shirley Macleod....

Every so often we find a story about a person who has built their life around a mission of service to others. Sometimes, as in this case, these people hope to bring that legacy of service to the people living and working in their community through the legislative branch. Meet Charles Clayton who not only has an amazing story but has also, for years, been that servant to others.  Charles is running for the Iowa House in District 9 which is Webster County and the Fort Dodge area. Every so often we get to visit with people running for public office. Today you'll meet farmer and lawyer Warren Varley who is running for the Iowa State Senate in District 10 a vast area of Adair, Cass, Dallas, Guthrie, and Polk Counties. We talk about what he sees as ways to improve the quality of life through solid economic development in not only those counties but all of Iowa and how the state needs to pay attention to our rural communities.
