It's the final day of Cattle Con 2024 here in Orlando. This is the annual meeting of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association and we talked to a host of producers, and those who sell products and services to the beef cattle industry. Here is a stunning fact: Only 2% of the U.S. population is involved in agriculture. One-hundred years ago 25% of the population farmed and ranched. We have become a nation mostly ignorant how food is produced...and, according to NCBA, that can be a danger. In the weeks ahead we'll share some of what we heard. I promise it it will be interesting. Meanwhile, if you want to reach us on social media and if you're on Threads you can find us @Insight_On_Business. And you can hook up with us all day on Twitter or "X" @IOB_NewsHour and on Instagram. Facebook? Sure were there too. Here's what we've got for you today:
- HUGE employment numbers for January;
- Tesla to recall 2.2 million vehicles sold in the U.S.
- The number of news/journalist jobs cut is stunning;
- And what that means to you for local news;
- A new student loan forgiveness program rolls out;
- Big news from the USDA for small cattle producers;
