We're back after being on assignment for the past several days. We were covering the National Tractor Parts Dealer Association annual Summer Board Meeting which took us on quite a journey.  About 35 people from around the country were in Des Moines, Iowa for the event and they got to visit an amazing car company that is all about speed and noise. It's Off The Line Performance we also toured the World Food Prize Headquarters as well as the Iowa State Capital, a 100 acre salvage yard in Colfax, Iowa and see an Iowa Cubs baseball game. The final report is they had a great time and we'll be bringing you several conversations yet this week. Meet Dr. Rachelle Keck of Grand View University

Recently at our recording booth during the Central Iowa Business Conference hosted by the Urbandale, Iowa Chamber a woman was walking toward us and I commented, "Nice shoes!".  She stopped, came over to the microphones to say, thank you. Turns out she is the president of Grand View University. I asked her if we might record a conversation and, so, we did. Reflections on DMDC2024

We spent a fast paced 55 hours on the ground in Washington, D.C. for the 45th Annual Des Moines to D.C. (DMDC) trip by the Greater Des Moines Partnership. This is where elected officials, community groups and business leaders used the time to not only network among themselves but also lobby our federal legislators about some key projects from airports to a new interstate to fixing roads and bridges. The reaction from those involved? DART, Funding Issues and a 40% Cut to Service

One of the most impactful issues facing workers and employers is transportation. If a family doesn't own a reliable vehicle or if people don't want/need that expense their option if public transportation...get on the bus...Gus.  However a lack of funding has the Des Moines Area Transit Authority (DART) considering a 40% cut in service.
