A Special Needs No-Kill Animal Shelter

There are animal shelters and then there are special places such as Animal Lifeline of Iowa.  Celebrating nearly 40 years of serving the Des Moines area and all of Iowa. The organization rescues cats and dogs that are injured, handicapped, have a serious medical condition, are abused, pregnant, nursing moms or are orphans that require bottle feeding. Animal Lifeline of Iowa rehabilitates the animals in their care and help to adopt them into their loving, forever home.  Here Stacie Leinen talks about that and a special event happening on the 5th of August "Comedians to the Rescue".  Meet Stacie...

Ending Hunger Tomorrow and How - With Aubrey Alvarez

She says that if we really wanted to end hunger we could do that tomorrow if only grocery stores and convenience stores would stop tossing good food in the garbage. That according to Aubrey Alvarez from Eat Greater Des Moines. Some facts: In Iowa alone some some 550.000 tons of good food is sent to the landfill each year and according to the USDA food waste accounts to 30 - 40% of what American's throw away...all of which could feed families in need.
