Jeff Stein is, first, a broadcaster and serves as the News Director of News/Talk 1540 KXEL in Waterloo/Cedar Falls. In his "spare time" Jeff is also an accomplished author and now a documentary producer. He will be in Des Moines on the 19th of March do a "show and tell" of his piece, "From the Battle Front to the Home Front - Iowa Broadcasters Go to War". It's Happs.TV - It's What?

I'm old so I remember when there were three newscasts on television each evening: CBS, NBC and ABC. That was it. I also remember when CNN launched and then a host of 24/7 news networks popped up. The evolution of the news business continues with something called "Citizen Journalists" and nobody seems to have captured that as well as Happs.TV. What is Happs? Think "Happening" and it's where citizen journalists share amazing stories all in real time. Here, with me, is Andrew King of Happs.TV to share the story for you.  Neat stuff....

Batman, Dogs and Burt Ward

Over the years Burt Ward, aka Robin from the classic television show Batman, has been involved in the dog food business with something called Gentle Giant. Before that he ran a rescue in his California home for Great Danes...no, really! Not long ago I spent the day with Burt talking about dogs, the dog food business, canine nutrition, his family, Adam West and more. Here then is that conversation.

GM said today that if the tariffs continue it could become a much smaller company and that would mean jobs. The markets, sort of, rebounded today but investors still jittery. Speaking of tariffs Canada was back in the news. City Bank says they are sorry and then coughs up $335 million... It's the last gasp for Toys R Us and a Des Moines company calls it quits after nearly 150 years in business and it's not because business isn't good.
