Made it through Mother's Day, my first not having...Mom. You might think that would have been rough but it really wasn't. I went about my day, changed my Facebook Profile to a photo of her 92nd Birthday Party and it was...OK.
Later in the day I was folding...washcloths. Washcloths. Who would think such an action would bring back a flood of memories?
Mom was always a really, really neat person. The hair and makeup and clothes all "went together". "You never know who is going to see you so, even going to the grocery store you've got to be prepared."
Toilet time...as she became more dependent involved...washcloths. And, they had better be warm! One afternoon several several weeks before she died she was standing, supporting herself on her walker, while I used the washcloth on her.
"Oh my! The things that you have to do! Who would have ever thought?"
Washcloths...
And...so it goes.
I write Mom & Me for the memory and in honor of my Mother. I'd like to have the opportunity to share your Mom & Me story too. Go ahead and drop me your story (300 words or less) and a photo (that really helps!) to [email protected] and we'll get it done. Thanks for reading.
