Abortion is OK...Ask The Iowa GOP
This past week the State of Iowa was all "a flutter" as the next president of the People's Republic of China stopped in for a chat with "old friends". Vice President Xi Jinping had come to Iowa years ago and because he "treasures friendships" made a stop in Muscatine, Des Moines and traveled to a 4,000 acre farm in Maxwell. Oy and you should have seen the state dinner held at the capital! But, something was missing. Nobody uttered the word abortion. As the man who is expected to become president of the world's most pro-abortion nation on the planet wined and dined with Governor "For Life" Terry Brandstad and dozens of the "pro-life" crowd everything was...quiet. Not a sign, not a whimper from those chest thumping priests at the Catholic Church, nothing from the Iowa Right to Life. Nothing from any of those who want to control a woman's decision on reproductive health. Nothing from Rep. Chris "Personhood" Hagenow (R-Windsor Heights) who thought it was cool to share the menu on Twitter and gush about the ag groups who were sponsoring the state dinner. Why? I could think of several reasons why...money (trade), power, and "Heck them folks is from China, who the hell cares if they kill them babies over there." Duplicitous and it points their lack of creditability. Here is a good run-down from our friends at Bleeding Heartland.
Birth Control & Asprin
Foster Friess, the billionare supporter of Sen. Rick "I Got Jesus (MY Jesus) and You Should Too!" Santorum, gathered some news this week when he suggested the most effective birth control was...an aspirin. "Back in my day, they used Bayer aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees and it wasn't that costly." It's becoming clear, on a daily basis, that being a woman in 2012 is not such a good deal. Virginia says before a woman has an abortion they must have a tube placed in their vagina...without the womans consent. A panel of men (the image looked like something out of the Inquisition) gathered before congress to discuss how women should be treated and what health care options should be available for them. Now, if we could only enact legislation requiring women to walk 15 paces behind us...
Obama Loses Iowa
The joy that my friends must feel. Today the Des Moines Register published the latest Iowa Poll noting that President Obama trails three of the four GOP contenders. 611 "likely voters" took part in the poll which shows the president trails:
- Ron Paul by a margin of 7%
- Rick Santorum by a margin of 4%
- Mitt Romney by a margin of 2%
- President Obama leads Newt Gingrich by 14%
Before Iowa Republicans start the parade, which they will, there are several considerations:
- Iowa Embarrassment - Iowa has been embarrassed by everything from the Iowa Straw Poll, which saw Michele Bachmann surge to the top and then fizzle, to the Republican Caucus that produced two winners. The events led the the resignation of Matt Strawn the GOP state chairman;
- Right Wing Attacks - Iowa has been ground zero for constant attacks against the president for nearly 36 months. Currently, to my knowledge, there is not a broadcast outlet in the state that shares with their audience the positive gains the nation has experienced over the past two years. Not...one.
- No Response - While well connected Obama for America has been tepid in their response to brutal attacks proving that attack ads work especially when there is zero response. Remember the Swift Boats?
- Uninformed Voters - Ron Paul leads the president by 7%. Seriously? While uninformed voters like his "anti-everything" message of "cut and slash" dig a little deeper into the voters rational and it falls apart in seconds. But then again, in Iowa, the GOP selected Paul's senior adviser to lead the party.
Iowa will once again support the President Obama. However, this poll shows it's going to take some...work. To read the entire article here is the link to the Des Moines Register.
Iowa Ranks "Dead Last"!
Clive businessman Desmund Adams who is running for the Iowa State Senate, and whom I support, shocked morning news anchor T.J. Hart during a recent interview. "Iowa is dead last in its support of women owned businesses..." That would be "dead last in the nation according to this study by that left wing group, commie think tank...American Express. Here is the interview:
To learn more about Desmund Adams and Iowa Senate District 22 (Clive, Waukee, West Des Moines and Windsor Heights) here's a bit more.
The People? Who the hell cares... More astounding than President Obama losing Iowa (Des Moines Register - Iowa Poll) is the poll that shows 68% of Iowans oppose a new tax on gasoline which is swiftly making it's way through the Iowa Legislature. There is more than enough "hand wringing" but a few Republician Legislators such as Sen. Kent "Burn This Place Down "Sorenson (R-Indianola) is standing firm on the 2010 "no new taxes" pledge. Meanwhile Governor "For Life" Terry Branstad has been on both sides of the issue. Bottom line: It will pass and the governor will sign it. The hell with what you think. Here is the story from the Des Moines Register.
Partly Personal
My Bride is doing a fund raising adventure for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through "Team in Training". Her goal is to raise over $3,700 and do a "Century Ride" this summer around Lake Tahoe. This is not without some personal "skin in the game". She has never...never...raised money for any cancer cause in the past and in fact has shunned that effort. Even though her former husband died at a very young age leaving her and two girls. "I was angry and it has taken me years to put that loss behind me and move on. Perhaps I really can make a difference in the lives of another family." Well said and I am proud of you.
Have a Superior Sunday...we'll get back to business tomorrow. Family Brunch Day in just a bit. I know...shocking that a commie like me has a "family brunch day". Actually we meet to discuss our favorite authors like Karl Marx...oh...my.

what a waste of good air.
